Bunadband i Telemark

Together these authors have created an outstanding book focusing on the woven patterned bands of the intricate Telemark folk costumes of Norway. This in-depth study presents not only weaving bands using a rigid heddle, but also an intriguing kind of special floor loom. An inserted reprint of a 1976 pamphlet by the Norwegian Folk Museum provides more details about the technique. The spectacular photography and clear diagramming make this a valuable book for the non-Norwegian speaker; however, there is significant amount of text about the various areas where these bands have been woven.
