Lillemor Johansson, the previous editor of Väv Magasinet, presents a collection of 50 favorites from her magazine from 1982–2003. This gorgeous book is divided into sections, beginning with tablecloths and runners and followed by towels, upholstery, curtains, pillows, blankets, rugs, clothing, and Christmas projects. The stellar photography includes close-ups of the many weave structures and textures presented. These stunning designs use a variety of available materials such as linens, cottons, cottolin, wools, rags, and straw.
Many of these projects require only 4 shafts and 4 treadles, but there is also plenty to choose from for the more advanced and technically inclined weaver, including several compositions using a drawloom attachment. This is a wonderful book to just leaf through and look at the beautiful pictures, and also to inspire you to develop your weaving skills beyond your current level.
Vävstuga has just created an English supplement, translated by Becky Ashenden and sold as a set with this book. The translations of common Swedish weaving terms found in the supplement may also be of use with other Swedish books you may own.
