First published in 1903, this book is the most comprehensive publication on band weaving of its time. It offers us a wide selection of headbands, belts, garters, and ornamental bands used in 19th century Finland. 159 band designs are reproduced in color.

The introduction gives a nice bit of history and a discussion of some of the traditional tools used to make these bands, which vary in technique from braided bands to tablet-woven bands and pick-up patterned bands using various kinds of rigid heddles. These beautiful patterns could inspire many other woven projects as well. A real treasure trove from the past.
