This is one of the most instructive manuals we have seen for tablet woven bands. The articulate and clear diagrams, along with the beautiful photographs, will inspire all of us.

Tablet weaving is an ancient craft. Archaeological finds reveal to us that it was widely practiced in Iron Age Finland. This book will teach you how to tablet weave bands using the techniques typical of the era: reversing twining direction on a diagonal, a.k.a. Finnish diagonals, and the tubular selvage and half turns - two specialties only known in Finland.

The book contains instructions and pattern diagrams with 30 different bands with ancient universal motifs, used the world over from the dawn of time. Some of the patterns are based on grave finds; some are inspired by motifs and imagery of the Iron Age.
